HOW TO RIP OFF YOUR BAND MATES

DIY isn't about being second rate or 'not good enough', it is about taking control and being able to produce good quality stuff at sensible and affordable prices. As a consequence Eastfield releases and merchandise have sold in the thousands. But where, oh where has all the money gone?

DIY punk is great
You can make a stack of cash
Do everything by yourself
Give nothing to anyone else

I never divvied up the pot
I stole everything that the band had got
I just went out and blew the lot
I bought myself a brand new yacht

Every penny, every pound
All transactions written down
But the books don't add up
'Cos somebody has ripped us off

I never divvied up the pot
I stole everything that the band had got
I just went out and blew the lot
I bought myself a brand new yacht

Fleecing happy shoppers
To embezzle from the coffers
Benefit gigs are for mugs
Blow the lot on drink and drugs

I never divvied up the pot
I stole everything that the band had got
I just went out and blew the lot
I bought myself a brand new yacht

We never divvied up the pot
We stole everything that the band had got
We just went out and blew the lot
We bought ourselves a brand new yacht

Only kidding! As individuals we haven't made a penny out of this, choosing to plough everything back into the collective pot in order to fund the day-to-day running of Eastfield. We therefore never need external financial help from the likes of record labels or to dip into our own pockets if we wish to record, release records, print t-shirts, mend broken equipment or buy petrol enabling us to play benefit gigs etc., etc.

We thought of posting the Eastfield 'accounts' on the website but that was deemed far too right-on - I suppose we could always post a photo of the yacht instead!
